Who I am

Websites by KTS is a project of Kleinfeld Technical Services, Inc. (KTS).

After years of experience providing web services and design to associated organizations, KTS is now offering website services to individuals, businesses, and organizations.

KTS is headed by Jack Kleinfeld, P.E., who has built both HTML and WordPress websites and overseen the building of websites by others.  You can see examples of WordPress websites he has built on the Portfolio page of this site. He is currently the webmaster for Van Cortlandt Jewish Center, Fleetwood Synagogue, and Encore Fabrics.  Jack has decades of experience in industry and private practice and will bring that knowledge to bear on making sure that the website he builds for you is a website that meets your needs.

Approach

What Websites by KTS does is not about us, it’s about you and your needs. So, take a look, and if you need or want a website, reach out and let me make you the site you want and need. I’m pretty sure it will be bigger than this one — your website is where the effort belongs.

My approach to providing you a website is based on being sure that what I build is what you need, as well as what you want. Part of that is exploring your needs and being sure that both of us understand them.  It’s that process that the tagline, “I’ll ask questions, then build you the right site!”, is meant to represent.  What all this means is that the first thing we’ll do together is talk.  Some of that talk is likely to feel like business consulting and direction setting and it may be exactly that.  We’ll talk about:

  • what type of website do you need and want — is it a business site, a hobby site, a non-profit site, a religious organization site, an e-commerce site, a general web presence, a blog only,  an image heavy site, a media site, etc.
  • what you need a website to do for you — be a place for discussions, be an online brochure, help you get contacts and communicate with them, recruit members, provide online learning, bring people to a physical location, allow people to make reservations or appointments, etc.
  • what you need it to avoid — you may wish the site to be a one-way communication vehicle, for example, and not offer visitors an opportunity to leave comments or send messages. You may not want to tell them about your staff or post pictures or provide individual contact information. See the lists above for insight as to what you may wish to avoid,
  • what will your level of involvement be — are you going to do the writing and editing and content creation, are you going to maintain it, are you going to update it, or are you going to need any of that from outside?
  • what are your key distinguishers — what makes you stand out that we want to tell the world about? Is it service, selection, support, staff, pricing, organizational goals, etc.?

You can get a more detailed understanding of what our first steps will be by reviewing “Getting Ready for a Website“.

I am basing my website building on WordPress.  There’s a short article about it at WordPress.

Contact Websites by KTS through the form below and let’s get you started towards the website you want and need.

Tell me as much as you can. Remember that the next step will be an initial conversation about what you need and want — so we can cover what you don’t say here then, if it’s more comfortable for you.

Fill it in and I will get back to you.

    Why

Here’s a sampling of why you may want a website and what it can do for you:

If you are a business, a website will improve your profitability or help you reach other goals.

    • If you are selling physical items, you can drive sales to your location or offer them through the website.  You can increase your sales and market penetration.  You can reach new customers in your current area and expand to new areas.
    • If you are selling services, you can interact with potential customers to answer questions, demonstrate your expertise, show the value of your service, tell success stories, and possibly close the sale right on the website.

If you are an advocacy or non-profit organization, a website will enable you to reach a bigger audience, get support more widely than you already have, reach and enlist others.

A website will enable you to build your contact lists, host conversations that will enhance your efforts and improve your effectiveness, and highlight items of key or current interest.

And a website can do all this nimbly, with changes made in a short time and at low cost.

Still doing research? That’s fine, but you can still call or email, I’ll be glad to talk. If you prefer, look at some of the other pages here for guidance.

So, do you want a better, more profitable or more effective operation?
